I started this series at the Oregon coast this last summer during an annual painting getaway with my best girlfriend! I was playing around with color blocking and fluid, loose brushstrokes in this painting as it was one of the first in this series. It is the foundation for this body of work. There are tons of layers of experimentation, and paint!

I knew I wanted to paint birds, but change it up a bit. Birds represent freedom and energy, but are also a calming presence in my life. As I was working thru the experimentation process, I added the stripes of color to offer stability and calmness. It seems to work for me. As I continue to work with these ideas it’s a journey, with lots of experimentation along the way,
